Post No. 5: Patience

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

Patience is perhaps an underrated virtue in today’s fast paced culture. We don’t like to wait for things. We’re used to acquiring a vast array of products and information right at our fingertips. Amazon delivers the same or next day. If we want to know something we just ask Siri and it immediately responds. Many are addicted to almost instant feedback from social media. No wonder we spend so much time on our digital devices! So what is the answer? I don’t know. Perhaps a good place to start is to examine what patience is about. Here is a poem I found that may be helpful. After reading the poem, if you have ideas please share them on the blog.

PATIENCE

Patience does not hurry

It dawdles with now

Takes its time with what is

Worries not about later

Just watches and listens

Enjoying the breeze

Here’s a poem with a more visceral and appealing view of patience:

I can’t wait for patience

Patience is much too slow

I have things to do

Then patience sat close

With breast pressing softly

I was wrong about patience!

Maybe there’s an upside to patience! Please share your wisdom on this topic. 😎
